Red is the color of prosperity, happiness and good luck in China, and is often warn by brides. In South Africa it is the color of mourning. In Russia it is associated with Communism.

Yellow is the color of mourning in Egypt. In the middle ages actors wore yellow to signify the dead. In Japan yellow represents courage, and in India it represents peace.

Green is the color of Ireland and is closely associated with all things Irish. It also has a close association to Islam.

Blue is the color of mourning in Iran.

Purple is the color of mourning widows in Thailand. In many cultures it is associated with royalty.

Black is the color of little boys in China.

White is the color of mourning in China and India.
